Gun stolen in armed home invasion
police sketch of suspect
Saturday, January 24, 2009 6:08 AM EST STAFF REPORT
KENNETT SQUARE — Police are investigating after two armed men reportedly invaded a home early Friday morning, tied up a resident and stole a gun before fleeing.
Police said about 8 a.m. the 27-year-old male victim was home alone in the 300 block of Marshall Street when a man knocked at his door.
The man asked the resident about an apartment for rent in the area, police said. As the men were talking, a second suspect reportedly came from around the corner and pointed a gun at the victim.
Police said the two suspects then forced their way into the home and put the victim on the floor. Next, the suspects covered the victim's face with a jacket and tied his hands together with a cord, police said.
The suspects then went through the victim's belongings. The men allegedly took cash, a 9 mm semiautomatic pistol and the victim's cell phone.
Police described the first suspect as a Hispanic male, roughly 5 feet 9 inches tall, in his late 20s, with a round face and stocky build. Police described the second suspect — who had the gun — as a black male, roughly 6 feet 4 inches tall, in his late 20s, with a dark complexion and thin build.
Authorities ask anyone who can identify either suspect or has information related to the incident to contact Kennett Square police at 610-444-0501.

By Vernon OdomPHILADELPHIA - January 6, 2009 - (WPVI) -- Federal officials are asking for your help in locating dozens of stolen, high powered weapons. More than 23 high powered firearms were stolen from a dealer who'd parked his truck in a restaurant parking lot after a December 21st gun show at the Valley Forge Convention Center. In addition, agents are looking at the September theft of more than 40 handguns under similar circumstances. They were stolen from a New York dealer who had just left the valley for the convention center, and parked his vehicle at a restaurant near the King of Prussia Mall. "Both of the thefts occured in restaurant parking lots after the gun show, leads me to believe we may be looking for the same individuals," said ATF Special Agent John Hageman. Story continues belowAdvertisement The feds fear all those weapons could be hiting the streets fast, especially the hanguns. "Those guns could move on the street very quickly, and get in the hands of drug dealers, or other violent criminals," Hageman said. "In the second theft, we had a number of machine guns, silencers, some short-barrled rifles. With that kind of firepower, they'd be looking to move the guns quickly and be able to make a lot of money from violent criminals." If you can help law enforcement with either of the cases, call 1-800-ATF-GUNS There's a $10,000 reward available for help in solving the machine gun robbery.
