On Wednesday, March 25, the Nebraska Legislature passed LB 817, moving it out of Select File and on to Final Action. This bill would allow a Nebraska concealed carry permit to be used in lieu of a permit to purchase card. During the first round of debate, known as General File, two amendments were added to the bill. NRA was not opposed to either amendment.
The first amendment extended the privileges on LB 817 to law enforcement, which were unintentionally left out of the bill. The second amendment added the contents of a bill sponsored by State Senator Annette Dubas (34), which would extend the increased penalties for illegal discharge of a firearm to cities of the 1st class.
Please continue to check your e-mail and our website at www.NRAILA.org for further action on LB 817.
